April 3, 2013: Two ribbon cuttings in two weeks! Last week the Greater Derry Londonderry Chamber of Commerce helped us celebrate our new space, and yesterday was the Londonderry Commerce & Visitors Center's turn that helped welcome us to our new home. Today we even made the business section of the New Hampshire Union Leader!
March 4, 2013: Finally, the move is complete! Home Helpers is still in beautiful Londonderry, but we're now located at 172 Rockingham Road, Unit 2. We're easy to find - just off Exit 5 at the intersection of Route 28 at Symmes Road (in the Whittemore Insurance building). Feel free to stop by and say hi!
February 14, 2013: We showed our Valentine's Day love for our caregivers by providing training. We held our training at the Chamber of Commerce in Derry over two days in order to accomodate all of our caregivers. We were pleased to welcome Wes Shattuck, a psychotherapist and life coach from Birch Tree Counseling Center, who spoke to us about conflict management, dealing with difficult situations and setting boundaries.
January 22, 2013: Did you know that January is National Bath Safety Month? It's really not surprising that the United States singles out one month per year to highlight this very dangerous place in your home and to advocate for more mindful safety precautions, given that so many injuries occur in the bathroom. Just think, in 2008 alone an estimated 234,094 injuries were attributed to falls in the bathroom. While injuries were sustained in every age group, those 85 years and older sustained more (and more serious) injuries than those in other age groups, although babies and young children also need special attention in the bath. If you are looking for products to make your bathroom safer, you may want to visit Charron Medical Services in Nashua. Home Helpers President Bonnie Roberts is also excited to be attending a day-long Falls Workshop in Concord on Friday, January 26. This workshop was developed by the NH Partnership for Patients and the NH Falls Risk Reduction Task Force and focuses on reducing readmissions and engaging the community in the reduction of fall-related injuries.
January 16, 2013: Congratulations to Home Helpers Caregiver of the Quarter Shirley Chase! Shirley earned this honor by her dedicated and outstanding client care, willingness to go where needed, and her timely submission of training and other administrative requirements. Well done, Shirley!
January 9, 2013: Home Helpers was excited to team up with our friends from Massage Envy Spa in Manchester and Mary Kay Consultant Stacy Thrall in our first collaborative Spa Day. The therapists from Massage Envy provided chair massage, Stacy gave Satin Hands hand massages and Home Helpers worked the room talking about the importance of skin care and stress management while we helped out where needed. We had a blast and can't wait for the next Spa Day!

June 22, 2012: Home Helpers Team Cares had fun at the Relay For Life of Greater Derry and Londonderry. We were honored to support and remember all of our clients and their families who have been affected by cancer. It was especially poignant this year, as we cared for several hospice clients and were with them throughout their final journey. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community and our 900+ participants, Relay For Life of Greater Derry and Londonderry raised $199,000 and celebrated 164 Survivors. We can't wait for Relay For Life 2013: President Bonnie Roberts will continue as the Event Co-Chair and you can be sure that Home Helpers' Team Cares will be there as well!
